About The Position

This position performs comprehensive ultrasound exams, adhering to established protocols for verification, planning, setup, execution, and reporting. The role involves patient identification, education, and monitoring for safety and cooperation. It also contributes to quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. The Vascular Ultrasound Tech III is responsible for completing all associated clerical tasks accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring prompt reporting of critical results and maintaining patient privacy. Communication with physicians, patients, and other personnel is key, maintaining a pleasant and informative demeanor. The role also emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and a willingness to mentor and develop others. Maintaining a clean and orderly work area, including equipment cleaning and stocking needs, is also a responsibility. The individual identifies learning needs and actively pursues professional growth through in-services, meetings, and suggesting process improvements. This role includes the skills of Sonographer levels 1 & 2, with a focus on Protocol Directed/Research Protocols, Graft surveillance, Arterial Duplex, and/or Pseudo A. and/or Fistula. It requires consistently taking initiative for professional development, maintaining a positive attitude, increased engagement, and shifting focus to the external team/department/organization. Demonstrating an HRO culture by identifying patient safety issues and consistently seeking opportunities to learn new technology and equipment to expand knowledge and skills is expected. Involvement in professional organizations like ASE and SVU, assisting with IAC and QI initiatives, acting as a Preceptor, providing educational activities/inservices, and participating in Professional Presentations and Shared Governance are also part of the role. Completion of CVT PACT is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive ultrasound exams following established protocols.
  • Verifies patient identity and informs/observes patient during procedures.
  • Assists in continuing quality assurance and performance improvement.
  • Completes clerical tasks associated with ultrasound tests accurately and timely.
  • Ensures critical results are reported promptly and accurately.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicates with physicians, patients, and other center personnel.
