Provides ultrasound services to patients within the student scope of practice. Prepares and positions patients and selects exposure factors under direct and indirect supervision. Follows safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures. Prepares for and assists the supervising technologists and physicians in a variety of ultrasound procedures that may include pelvic, abdominal, small parts and/or routine vascular examinations. May perform more complex imaging such as deep Doppler and guided interventional procedures such as biopsies and ablations as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound. Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Records the images and relays a clinical impression as indicated. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and any other areas in department. Notifies appropriate staff member of supply needs, equipment malfunction and necessary maintenance. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
