About The Position
The Vascular Access Registered Nurse is responsible for prescribing, delegating, coordinating, and implementing nursing care for patients related to the insertion and maintenance of vascular access. This role involves patient and family teaching and providing leadership by collaborating with ancillary, nursing, and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing is required.
- One year RN experience required (hospital experience preferred).
- Obtain any certifications or education required for any equipment or vascular access devices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assesses appropriateness of line selection based on patient history, clinical condition, and planned therapy.
- Provides direct patient care and education to patients, caregivers, and staff in the appropriate use and care of vascular access devices.
- Serves as a resource and provides leadership in the development, coordination, and monitoring of vascular access device and/or PICC line care, and system measurements to improve clinical outcomes.
