About The Position

The Varsity Head Coach will be responsible for all aspects of the varsity wrestling program, ensuring its success and alignment with the core values of Waltham Public Schools and its Athletic Department. This role requires a self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills, capable of working collaboratively with student-athletes, families, staff, and the community.

Requirements

Experience coaching at the varsity level (head coach or varsity assistant coach).
Self-starter.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Game and practice preparation and coaching at the varsity level.
Supporting the sub-varsity coaching staff.
Developing the non-league schedule based on power rankings and competitive games.
Completing all administrative duties, including departmental paperwork and policies.
Team evaluation and selection.
Working with students and families to ensure registration completion for eligibility.
Adhering to all MIAA, league, and school policies and procedures.
Managing equipment, including uniforms and safety devices/materials.
Working with parents/guardians, booster groups, and community youth programs to establish respectful relationships and enhance school programs.
Collaborating with all other Waltham High School coaches under the direction of the Athletic Director.
Coordinating schedules of games, practices, and events.
Working with the athletic director to review expectations, nominate candidates, organize end-of-season gatherings, and set yearly goals to improve the program.
