About The Position

Reed City High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic department as a Varsity Track & Field Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will have a passion for track and field, a strong understanding of the sport, and the ability to motivate and develop student-athletes. This seasonal position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our track and field program while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or a strong background as a competitive athlete in the sport is preferred.
• Knowledge of track and field events, training techniques, and conditioning programs.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, athletes, and parents.
• Commitment to the academic and athletic development of student-athletes.
• First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
• Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies regarding athletics.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season, including practices and competitions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing training sessions, practice schedules, and competition strategies.
• Provide instruction and support to student-athletes in various track and field events, ensuring proper techniques and safety protocols are followed.
• Help organize and supervise team practices, meets, and other events, ensuring compliance with school and athletic policies.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, promoting the benefits of participation in the track and field program.
• Monitor student-athlete progress and performance, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to enhance their skills.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes.
• Communicate regularly with the head coach, parents, and athletes regarding team expectations, schedules, and performance updates.
• Assist with administrative tasks, including inventory management of equipment and supplies, and maintaining accurate records of athlete participation and performance.
