About The Position

The Bush School is seeking a Varsity Assistant Nordic Ski Coach to join our unique school-based Nordic ski program. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative coaching staff and help provide a competitive, positive, and growth-oriented experience for our student-athletes. We seek candidates who will support the school’s commitment to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. We value a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and talents and encourage candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to apply. The Varsity Assistant Coach will help plan and lead practices, coach at competitions, support the development of both experienced and emerging Nordic skiers, and transport student-athletes to off-campus practices and races using a school vehicle. The position reports directly to the Athletic Director. The season begins Monday, November 16, 2026, and continues through late February. Practices are generally held Monday through Friday from 3:45–5:30 p.m. on The Bush School campus. Beginning in January, as snow conditions allow, the team typically travels to local Nordic ski areas (Snoqualmie Pass, Hyak, and Cabin Creek) one weekday each week for practice and one weekend day each week for races. The season also includes three overnight trips of two to three nights each to The Bush School’s Methow Campus, providing extended training opportunities and access to high-quality Nordic skiing conditions. The Bush School athletic program works within the rules of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) to provide athletic opportunities and competition for students of all gender identities. While most sports are offered separately for boys and girls, the Athletic Department staff is committed to working collaboratively with each participant to determine options that best suit each student-athlete’s journey.
