About The Position

The Syracuse City School District is seeking a dedicated and diverse team of educators to partner with them in achieving their goals of improving student achievement. The district serves approximately 19,000 students Pre-K–12 across 35 schools and programs. The district offers 120 different athletic teams for students in grades 7-12, with a coaching staff of certified, dedicated individuals who enjoy working with student athletes. The modified program for grades 7-8 emphasizes skill development, participation, discipline, enjoyment, competition, and hard work, preparing students for high school competition. At the high school level (freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity teams), the focus shifts to a higher refinement of skill, competition, academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.

• New York State Coaching Certification
• Valid First Aid course
• Valid Adult CPR certification
• Workshop - Child Abuse Identification
• Workshop - School Violence Intervention and Prevention
• Workshop - Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)
• Fingerprint Clearance
• School District Recommendation
• Pass a fingerprint-based background check

• Previous Coaching Experience

Responsibilities

• Coach the Varsity Cross Country team.
• Develop student athletes' skills, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship.
• Prepare the team for high school level competition.
