About The Position

Southbridge Public Schools is seeking a Varsity Cheerleading Coach to oversee all aspects of the cheerleading program. The coach is accountable for program operations, including athlete safety and athletic equipment inventory, and promotes academics, sportsmanship, participation, and positive community relationships. The coach reports to the Athletic Director and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Prior coaching experience in a college, high school, or recognized and successful program.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the cheerleading program, including the safety and inventory of athletic equipment.
• Communicate with the Athletic Director about incidents involving student athletes or parental concerns.
• Promote academics before athletics by monitoring academic performance and enforcing eligibility.
• Provide student athletes the opportunity to compete while promoting sportsmanship.
• Build positive relationships with the community to promote the sport.
• Demonstrate the skills, drills, and fundamentals of cheerleading.
• Manage and inventory equipment.
• Be present at weekend activities.
• Supervise athletes before, during, and after practices and during activities and events.
• Attend coaching meetings as assigned.
• Evaluate student athletes’ progress.
• Assist with fundraising and promote community support and awareness.
• Set scrimmages, game schedules, and practice schedules.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
