About The Position

Responsible for all facets of the High School Baseball program at Portage Central High School. This includes overseeing all three programs (Varsity, JV, and Freshman), directly coaching the PCHS boys Varsity Baseball team competing in the SMAC, assisting the Athletic Director with schedules and travel coordination, and leading the PCHS boys' baseball booster club with a clear vision. The role also involves maintaining program inventory, working with the Athletic Director on the program budget, selecting and managing coaching staff, and coordinating the summer baseball youth camp and off-season workouts.

Requirements

• Previous Baseball coaching experience
• Superior technical knowledge of the sport of baseball
• Ability to effectively communicate with students, boosters, parents, other coaches, administrators, and news media
• Ability to communicate, foster and maintain positive relationships with students, other coaches, administrators, and parents
• Proven ability to handle administrative responsibilities of a high school athletic program
• Transparent and proactive communication, well organized and detail oriented
• Has high expectations and coaches with passion and integrity
• Successful experience in mentoring and developing a coaching staff
• Familiarity with local and regional travel baseball organizations and willingness to make connections and establish relationships that enable a smooth and position transition from one season to the next
• Proven ability to attract students to their program and retain them for multiple years
• Ability to deal with and resolve conflict
• Desire to serve others and put others first
• Ability to understand and follow policies (PCHS, PPS, & MHSAA)
• Must undergo a background check and fingerprinting
