About The Position

Varsity Baseball Coach – Inspire and Empower Young Athletes! This position is located at Avondale High School and reports to the Athletic Director. The job goal is to provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of baseball and also instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence. The role requires 10-20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Experience Coaching baseball
  • Experience or plan of building a K-12 baseball program
  • Works cooperatively with administrators, students, parents, and community.
  • Ability to lead, organize and supervise all aspects of the baseball program.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
  • Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.

  • Be able to demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction of high school athletes in the fundamental skills and strategy of baseball.
  • Instill moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline and self-confidence.
  • Schedule practices and off-season workouts.
  • Teach techniques and fundamentals of sport.
  • Demonstrate all skills necessary for the sport.
  • Be knowledgeable about the rules and regulations of the sport.
  • Assume the responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities being used.
  • Conduct structured practices that stay within the confines of the specified times at the Athletic Department.
  • Be an example of good character and sportsmanship to team at all times.
  • Conduct fundraisers to provide money for team supplies and needs.
  • Lead, organize and supervise all aspects of the baseball program.
  • Develop a positive team culture focused on sportsmanship, accountability, and academic success.
  • Ensure player safety and adherence to district, league, and MHSAA policies.
  • Coordinate offseason conditioning, strength training, and skill development programs.
  • Maintain control of storage and use of school-owned property.
  • Maintain professional competence.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
