This position assists with the organization, administration, facilitation, and maintenance of a successful athletic team. The role involves adhering to PIAA and NFHS rules, collecting and inventorying equipment, attending meetings and trainings, and communicating with feeder programs. The coach will actively recruit students, encourage participation, and help maintain student engagement throughout the season. Responsibilities include providing team-building activities, teaching techniques and strategies aligned with the head coach's philosophy, and assisting in the development and implementation of season-long, monthly, and weekly plans for preparation and improvement. This includes planning for instruction, drills, competition, conditioning, and recovery. The coach will model and teach respect towards athletes, officials, opposing teams, and spectators, and support the head coach's standards of behavior and discipline. Cooperation and positive relationships with school administrators, teachers, and staff are essential. The role also involves supporting year-round opportunities for athletes through open gyms, camps, and leagues, and supporting the head coach's decisions and philosophy.
