About The Position

This role involves supporting students in various capacities, including accompanying them on van rides and providing assistance within the school building. The position offers a collaborative and supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth, training, and career advancement. When school is off, you're off, aligning your schedule with school district calendars.

Requirements

• High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
• Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including mandated reporter training, physical, and TB test.
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with a team, and adapt to changing situations.
• Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information.

Nice To Haves

• A Bachelor's Degree in any subject is welcomed and appreciated.
• Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accompany students on morning and afternoon van rides.
• Monitor behavior of students on van rides as needed.
• Assist students with Activities of Daily Living.
• Provide physical and emotional support.
• Follow individual care plans developed in collaboration with teachers, school nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure that the unique needs of each student are met.
• Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to facilitate students' participation in classroom activities.
• Encourage and empower students to develop and maintain independence in daily activities whenever possible.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the absent teacher.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Encourage a positive and respectful atmosphere for effective learning.
• Supervise students during class time, transitions, and other school-related activities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
• Communicate effectively with students, school staff, and administrators.
• Provide feedback on the day's activities and report any issues or concerns to the regular teacher or school administration.
• Adhere to school and district policies and procedures.
• Implement emergency procedures when necessary.
• Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
• Uphold high standards of behavior and ethics.
• Be flexible and adaptable to different grade levels, subjects, students, and school environments.
