About The Position

The Valve Technician will be responsible for repairing various types of valves, including relief valves, control valves, on/off valves, and pneumatic actuators. This role involves performing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, inspections, and testing of valves both in the SVI facility and at customer locations. The technician will conduct pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, in-process inspection, machining, lapping, painting, assembly, testing, and final inspection. A key aspect of the job is performing tests on certified equipment and completing all necessary documentation under a QA/QC/National Board VR program. Field service worksheets must be completed and submitted upon work completion. The role requires an understanding of pneumatic and digital controls, the ability to reference valve manuals, and effective communication with plant personnel regarding valve and instrumentation equipment and customer requirements. The technician must also obtain all site-specific and safety-related training and maintain driver eligibility and preventative maintenance on company vehicles. Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Good communication/customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Willing to help in other areas of the department as necessary.
  • Experience in reading blueprints and other technical diagrams.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods.
  • Must have a clean background and be able to pass both a pre-employment & random drug test(s).
  • Knowledge of rigging, lifting and moving heavy and awkward products.
  • Able to work in abnormal (heat/cold/clean room) operating conditions.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and digital controls.
  • Millwright: 1 year (Preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year Associate Degree in a mechanical preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of previous control valve and safety valve repair experience desired
  • experience with hydraulics/pneumatics helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Repair relief valves, control valves, on/off valves and pneumatic actuators in SVI facility or customer plant locations.
  • Mechanically and electrically troubleshoot, inspect, and test valves at specified job worksites.
  • Perform pre-testing, disassembly, cleaning, in process inspection, machining, lapping, painting, assembly, testing, and final inspection on various types of valves and actuation.
  • Perform testing on certified test equipment, and complete all documentation by working under a QA / QC / National Board VR program.
  • Complete field service worksheets and submit to job coordinator upon completion of work.
  • Reference appropriate valve manuals for repair requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with plant personnel regarding valve and instrumentation equipment and customer requirements.
  • Obtain all site specific and safety related training to perform valve repair services.
  • Maintain driver eligibility and regular preventative maintenance on company owned vehicle.
  • Assist others as required.
