Maintain and inspect all functions of water system valves and blowoffs, including valves in meter vaults. Responsible for every valve in the ACSA system; must maintain its accessibility, functioning and make sure it is properly installed. Must have knowledge of ACSA specifications for the installation of water valves to sign off on warranty work by contractors for any projects. Must be able to call in Miss Utility tickets for all repairs and work needed on water valves. Valve Technician shall always be responsible for a direct report. Required to be able to train and educate in all aspects of the Valve Technicians' job. Must be able to educate helper on equipment, parts, system and any other tasks needed at the ACSA. Required to have work planned for the Utility Worker to perform in the event of being absent from work. Must have the ability to pre-plan for any projects and have equipment, parts, and tools ready the day before to ensure the readiness of a job. Required knowledge of computers, the GIS system and pipe locating equipment. Candidate must be available to respond to emergency incidents upon request on nights, holidays and weekends. Ability to efficiently and effectively run crews on major projects or jobs when Crew Leader is absent. Scheduling and planning daily activities to optimize efficient use of personnel and equipment. Oversight of warranty work and sign-off on contractor valve projects. Use of Cityworks (and GIS) for work-order generation, inspection documentation and valve-location.
