Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years mechanical or related experience required.
  • Specific experience with valve and/or other process instrumentation equipment disassembly preferred.
  • Ability to safely use and maintain a large variety of tools and equipment, associated with the assembly of valves and actuators, including impact wrenches, electric and manual hand tools, lapping machines, testing equipment, overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Ability to read customer specification sheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly manuals (IOM’s).
  • Good computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Good communication skills.

  • May have to read schematic drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately document valve data from Manufacturers tags / data plates on to valve write up sheet.
  • Compare valve data to customer supplied specification sheets.
  • Report any discrepancies to repair coordinator for resolution prior to giving repair packet to data entry.
  • Position and secure valve to pre-test stand and record pre-test results on valve write up sheet.
  • Forward job packet to data entry clerk, valves write up sheet, customer supplied specification sheet and any other customer supplied documentation, except MSDS sheet.
  • Place valve(s) in staging area with MSDS sheet.
  • When job packet is complete, with work traveler, place it with the valve and move to the tear down area.
  • Review MSDS sheet and wear proper PPE for protection. If not sure of proper PPE, contact Supervisor prior to proceeding with tear down.
  • Disassemble relief valves by following Puffer Sweiven's SRV procedures, manufacturers' disassembly procedures, work orders or other customer specifications.
  • Place bodies and valve components in specified job / tote boxes.
  • Document on valve work traveler any visually notable defects or abnormalities detected at the time of tear down and or take pictures with digital camera for file or to be e-mailed to customer.
  • Clean bodies and valve components with appropriate cleaning solution or abrasive.
  • Move valve and components to the inspection staging area.
  • Skid valves up after final test and move to the paint booth.
  • Paint valves per customer requirements found in the GCS or special instructions field located on the valve work traveler.
  • Move painted valve to final inspection staging area.
  • Follow safety procedures and regulations.
  • Lift, load, and move supplies and finish product between storage and work area.
  • Maintain the work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
