About The Position

This position interacts directly with HPE Engineering and Supply Chain Operations and close collaboration with all HPE manufacturing partners (ODMs/CMs) in the EMEA and APAC regions. Leads Value Engineering (VE) initiatives across manufacturing partner sites and product lines, identifying design, materials, and process opportunities to reduce total product costs and improve manufacturability, quality, without compromising product performance or reliability. Collaborates with Manufacturing Partners (ODMs and CMs), R&D, Sustaining Engineering, quality, Commodity Management, and production teams to drive continuous Sustaining Product cost-optimization, Supply continuity, and Field Customer Support through our Quality & Sustaining Engineering team.

Requirements

First level university degree or equivalent experience; may have advanced university degree.
Extensive experience with ODM / EMS engagement models
10 + years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in value engineering, cost reduction within a manufacturing environment
8+ years of people management experience
Technical background in networking product design and development
Strong knowledge of Value Engineering methodology and should-be cost modeling
Strong background of ODM /CM manufacturing processes for Networking/Telco hardware products
Excellent facilitation, analytical, and cross-functional presentation skills
PMP certification or higher certification
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Excellent understanding of supply chain and procurement processes and strategy.
Strong understanding of market place and industry supply base and standards.
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent analytical and data modelling skills.

Responsibilities

Accountable for results of a major category, supply chain, product line or program in terms of strategy, cost savings, direction and people management.
The interaction includes material customer escalation support activity, multi-sourcing, cost reduction, and activities supporting supply assurance and stability.
Leads product and component level VE cost savings projects and workshops across ODMs and CMs
Reviews product data BOMs, Design to identify part reduction, material substitution, and, where possible, process modifications for cost-reduction opportunities
Engages throughout the entire product life cycle to influence multi-sourcing, supply continuity and optimized costs at the design stage
Work with ODM and CM partners, develops VE proposals with cost-benefit analysis, ROI, and risk assessments to SCO & engineering leadership
Collaborates with product design, procurement, quality, and production engineering (HPE and Partners) to implement approved cost-reduction changes
Tracks and report VE/cost-out savings against targets, project budgets
Maintain database of VE ideas, to be cost models, and lessons learned across product families
Mentor VE Program Managers on methodology, DFM/DFA, and life-cycle costing improvements
Support partner and supplier-driven cost reduction initiatives in partnership with our own strategic sourcing and cost reduction activities
