About The Position

A career in Deals Valuations will provide you with the opportunity to help organizations unlock greater value from existing businesses and assets as well as new acquisitions, investments, and complex corporate arrangements. Our focus is on a series of services, such as valuations to support M&A, tax and corporate reorganizations, financial reporting, and disputes between shareholders, matrimonial cases, or other commercial litigation as well as valuation advice including deal pricing and value consulting to support management decisions related to transactions and corporate planning. In short, upon being a member of our team, you will support clients to make profound strategic decisions on value, better conduct business transactions and decisions, and satisfy regulatory requirements leveraging your professional skills and in-depth industry knowledge. As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.

Requirements

  • Completed undergraduate degree
  • Accounting or finance background
  • Desire to complete the Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation and/or the Accounting or Financial Designation
  • Interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel
  • Proactive, takes ownership of tasks and assignments, is curious and asks questions as needed
  • Strong financial background
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • An investigative mindset with attention to detail with an ability to see the big picture
  • Strong technical/analytical skills
  • An ability to analyze business situations

  • Fluency in English, in addition to French as they will be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking clients, colleagues and/or stakeholders during the course of their employment with PwC Canada

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the preparation of valuation models as well as valuation reports for a variety of purposes including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financial reporting, taxation, corporate planning (decision support), corporate governance and shareholders’ disputes
  • Understand the business/assets being valued, its historical and projected performance as well as key strengths and challenges
  • Conduct financial research into industry and general economic conditions, discount rates/cost of capital, valuation multiples for relevant public companies and precedent transactions
  • Actively participate in the preparation of analyses as well as expert reports related to damage quantification, net wealth and its evolution of spouses in matrimonial cases as well as other specific questions around business valuation and financial analyses
  • Perform audit support work including the review of purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment assessments and private equity portfolio company valuations
  • As part of the Deals group, you will work with colleagues across all lines of services to deliver valuations alongside other services provided by PwC
  • Contribute to proposal development including innovative approaches and methodologies tailored to address specific client requirements, as well as support the team in preparing presentations.
  • Complete the required training on time to support professional development.
  • Assist and take part in various internal initiatives (such as digitization, industry specialization, etc.)
