About The Position

As a Valuation Manager at Hamilton Lane, you will join a team dedicated to the valuation of our direct equity and credit portfolio. In this role you will execute and manage the delivery of quarterly, monthly and daily valuations of portfolio company securities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of experience in portfolio company investment valuation role
  • Experience as a valuation specialist at an accounting, valuation advisory, or independent asset management firm
  • Demonstrated experience in valuing illiquid or hard-to-value investments.
  • Exposure to a broad range of industries and security types
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • Progress toward CFA/ASA/ABV designation or relevant professional certification.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial modeling, including expertise using market data sources such as S&P Capital IQ.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct valuation analyses of illiquid investments, including debt and equity securities, across a wide range of industries and geographies.
  • Build, modify, and utilize financial models for estimating business enterprise and equity and debt instrument valuations, including discounted cash flow (DCF), market multiples, precedent transactions, and equity value allocation models.
  • Perform comprehensive research on securities, industries, competitors, and capital markets, including gathering and analyzing market data, comparable ratios, and credit spreads.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, investment memoranda, and transaction documents to develop a thorough understanding of the assets being valued.
  • Prepare and review clear, well-organized valuation reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and assist junior analysts in valuation assignments and professional development.
  • Support valuation conclusions and respond to auditor inquiries regarding valuation analyses.
  • Manage multiple assignments and prioritize tasks to meet critical deadlines.
  • Collaborate with team members across the firm to ensure high-quality, timely completion of assignments in a fast-paced environment.
