About The Position

Eaton’s IS VEH VGGP division is currently seeking an entry-level Validation & Verification Engineer. This entry-level Validation & Verification Engineer supports the development of advanced transmission systems for commercial vehicles by planning and executing testing activities at the component, subsystem, and vehicle levels. This role is responsible for validating system requirements, analyzing test results, supporting simulation activities, and contributing to the development of reliable, safe, and high-quality transmission systems for commercial vehicles. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to identify issues, improve system performance, and support product development throughout the engineering lifecycle. This Hybrid role must work on-site Tues- Thur at our Southfield, MI facility. Relocation is not available for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 1-2 years of relevant Engineering Experience (Co-op and internships acceptable) in relevant engineering field supporting product design, product testing or manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or electrical ( embedded systems) engineering.
  • Python, C/C++ Script writing for Test procedures .
  • Prior experience working in an automotive setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience building prototype samples, supporting development and validation testing, and analyzing/processing test data.
  • Data acquisition & Controls experience
  • Calibration experience.
  • MATLAB and Simulink experience.
  • Vector tools experience (CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe).

Responsibilities

  • Perform validation and verification testing at the unit, subsystem, and vehicle levels to fully validate requirements.
  • Analyze vehicle test data to investigate, identify, and resolve issues and performance concerns.
  • Perform/support vehicle modeling and simulation activities to predict performance and impact due to hardware variability.
  • Develop test methods and perform testing of vehicle power transmission systems.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to improve the performance and reliability of vehicle transmission systems.
  • Utilize the FMEA process to enhance design robustness.
  • Help define requirements, contribute to the definition of hardware designs, generate system solutions and models, define test plans, and perform validation testing to confirm that system and functional requirements are met.
  • Contribute to system-level definitions and algorithm requirements to meet product performance and reliability objectives.
  • Define and improve systems engineering standards and processes, contribute to industry technical papers and conferences.
