About The Position

The Validation Test Engineer I is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of products to prevent future problems. This role involves fulfilling customer requirements regarding testing, reducing testing costs, and improving component quality. The engineer will also be responsible for developing computer programs related to the design and testing of electronic components, products, and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (electrical preferred), required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, required.
  • 0 - 2 years of experience to be considered, required.
  • Possess proficiency in test equipment and various communication hardware and software, such as GPIB, Serial Busses, Parallel Busses, and LANs as well as CAN and SENT communication protocols.
  • Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Supports engineering department during customer meetings, preferred.
  • Basic project management knowledge, preferred.
  • Experience with LabView, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, mechanical, EMC and electrical testing of electrical components, products, and systems by requesting quotes, scheduling tests, creating test procedures, and analyzing test data.
  • Assist with the coordination and development of the mechanical, electrical and software test requirements of electronic components, products, and systems.
  • Develop EMC and electrical test plans and support these tests at off-site facilities.
  • Write validation test reports and provide other written and oral reports necessary to support the projects.
  • Support the engineering team at customer and supplier meetings.
  • Assist with the maintenance and scheduling of test chambers and equipment.
  • Write and maintain programming code for automated test systems, including environmental testing, EMC testing, automated calibration, and data analysis programs.
  • Maintain and test cable assemblies and fixtures used for testing.
  • Prepare specifications and costs for purchase of new test equipment.
  • Prepare costs for validation tests.
  • Set up and troubleshoot new test equipment and processes to ensure efficient operation.
  • Maintain compliance to current customer specific requirements as applicable.
  • Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
