Ciena Canada ULC is seeking an experienced Test Engineer, Test Station Validation to drive the development and validation of advanced test systems supporting optical networking hardware. This role plays a critical part in advancing automated testing capabilities, improving validation efficiency, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products. The position contributes to innovation and technical leadership within test engineering practices.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 3+ years of experience in test engineering, hardware validation, or a related discipline
- Proven development of automated test systems using MATLAB, NI TestStand, or Python
- Application of electrical circuit analysis and hardware testing principles
- Application of hardware verification including functional, performance, and stress testing
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges
- Leadership demonstrated through mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives

Responsibilities
- Design and lead comprehensive test plans and procedures for validating test stations and systems
- Develop, optimize, and debug automated test sequences using MATLAB, NI TestStand, or Python
- Drive innovation in test station validation through new strategies and tools that improve efficiency and reliability
- Perform advanced testing and debugging of electrical circuits, Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), and integrated test systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex test station issues and improve system performance
- Conduct hardware verification activities including functional, performance, and stress testing to validate design compliance
- Mentor junior engineers and guide test station validation methodologies and best practices
