About The Position

Ericsson-developed ASICs form the foundation of our Baseband and Radio network products. Our focus is to validate and deliver these components to strengthen our leadership position in 5G and 6G markets. ASICs present meaningful technical challenges across complexity, power, performance targets, and advanced process node technologies — making this an exciting and innovative environment to work in. We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the development and strategy of validation content used to validate and debug ASIC hardware silicon prior to release. Based in the USA, you will collaborate closely with engineering teams in Austin and Sweden across IP, ASIC, and system levels — helping ensure the final ASIC meets program goals with the highest quality while driving continuous improvements in validation methodology.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of development experience with C/C++ and Python, with a strong focus on hardware validation and embedded software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives in complex validation environments
  • Experience with source code management (Git), IDEs, and collaborative development workflows
  • Deep understanding of hardware architecture, data paths, and IP interactions
  • Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux systems, scripting, and lab environments
  • Strong knowledge of validation principles, coverage strategies, and the ability to translate requirements into executable plans
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to present to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in post-silicon power validation, system-level validation, hardware emulators, network communications, lab equipment (protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes), or interest in leveraging AI for validation efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, implementation, and validation of ASIC device drivers and test cases in C/C++, providing technical direction to the team
  • Drive development and evolution of validation frameworks and infrastructure, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and reuse across programs
  • Define validation strategies and assess test case coverage, identifying gaps, risks, and quality improvement opportunities
  • Lead in-lab validation and proof-of-concept work, guiding teams in demonstrating coverage improvements and debugging complex system behaviors
  • Mentor engineers in validation principles, debug methodologies, and coding best practices
  • Plan and coordinate validation workstreams, ensuring delivery against program milestones
  • Build partnerships with ASIC architects and design teams to define coverage plans and accelerate debugging of system issues
  • Identify and drive technical innovations including automation, coverage modeling, and framework improvements
