About The Position

The Valet Attendant / Bellman provides assistance, services, and information to guests to ensure a pleasant, comfortable visit. This role combines valet parking responsibilities with guest service support, including luggage handling, guest escorting, and property assistance. The essential job functions are listed below but may include duties which are outside of these job functions which are required to meet the need of the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of 12 months of valet-related experience or training.
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with MVR criteria meeting company guidelines, if required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to operate standard and automatic transmissions, if required.
  • Effective verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate valet information and policies in a manner easily understood by colleagues and guests.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Ability to work in an environment that is not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes with exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy weather conditions for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guest to the establishment and offer professional valet services within 30 seconds.
  • Follow guest arrival procedure (after greeting guest do vehicle damage check, write claim ticket, etc.)
  • Practice and adhere to AAA Basics – Attitude, Assistance, and Appearance.
  • Accommodate guests by opening doors and assisting with luggage or other heavy items.
  • Direct traffic in the parking area as needed and assist guests in entering and leaving the parking lot.
  • Answer guests' questions regarding local attractions, hotel amenities and other available services.
  • Collect and secure keys belonging to guests to ensure their proper return.
  • Park guests' vehicles in predetermined areas within the parking lot, following all traffic laws.
  • Operate vehicles safely and responsibility per Company policy and State Laws i.e. Fasten seat belt, no ear buds in ears, not texting and driving etc.
  • Organize and file paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions.
  • Follow hotel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure work area, including office, parking lot, and driveway are clean free of debris and obstruction.
  • Substitute for any position, if necessary.
  • Assist guests with luggage and belongings.
  • Escort guests to rooms and explain amenities.
  • Deliver packages, messages, and requests.
  • Provide directions and local information.
  • Manage luggage storage and retrieval.
  • Assist with group arrivals/departures.
