About The Position

We are seeking a Vacuum Truck Operator with experience supporting heavy civil construction, specifically in hydro-excavation, underground utility locating, and debris removal. This role requires someone who can work independently in the field, execute tasks efficiently, and maintain high safety standards across multiple active projects. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience operating vacuum trucks (hydro-vac or industrial air-vac) within heavy civil or utility construction.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and safe excavation practices.
  • Technical aptitude for troubleshooting vacuum pumps, blowers, and high-pressure water systems.
  • Must possess a valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred) with Tanker endorsement and a clean driving record.
  • Valid Driver’s License with appropriate commercial endorsements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to federal project requirements).
  • Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening.
  • Subject to background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working around heavy equipment such as excavators and dozers is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain high-pressure vacuum and hydro-excavation trucks to support underground utility and civil projects.
  • Perform precision digging around sensitive underground utilities using water or air excavation methods.
  • Conduct daily inspections and preventative maintenance on the truck and vacuum systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or hydraulic issues with the vacuum unit in the field.
  • Ensure safe disposal of collected materials in accordance with local regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain accurate logs, including manifests, drive time (ELD), and daily production reports.
  • Communicate effectively with field leadership and utility locators to coordinate daily excavation plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organized service truck, ensuring all hoses, nozzles, and safety gear are in peak condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including trenching/shoring and potholing safety standards.
