About The Position

Under direct supervision, Vacuum Melt Tech I is responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of vacuum melters and tube furnaces to melt and cast pure metals and alloys into plates/ingots. This role involves working with various equipment to process materials and maintain production records. The position requires adherence to quality, safety, and work regulations, as well as basic SAP functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of industrial training
  • Minimum 03-12 months of related experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions and short correspondence
  • Ability to write standard documentation
  • Ability to communicate with other employees to share information and solve problems
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and convert in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute percent
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to operate department equipment to include, but not limited to, a water jet and hot roll
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Requires the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, a respirator, and protective clothing such as a uniform or lab coat
  • Export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology (ITAR and EAR)
  • Must qualify as a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee, a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate the band saw, and barrel blaster
  • Operate shears, hem plate saw, OMAX machining systems and sand blaster
  • Follow production orders and supervisor/manager instructions, weighs out and prepares materials for vacuum melting and keep records of all vacuum melting operations
  • Work with Process Engineering on developing procedures for vacuum melting new materials
  • Clean and evaluate vacuum melted parts
  • Program the hot rolling furnaces
  • Assist the level II and III VM Techs with operating both hot and cold rolling mills
  • Maintain supplies necessary for the operation and maintenance of vacuum melters and tube furnaces
  • Process all necessary paperwork to include analysis forms, labor data entry, and inventory records
  • Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations
  • Perform basic SAP functions
