About The Position

Under general supervision of the Clinical Manager (Public Health Nurse Practitioner), the Vaccine Coordinator performs professional public health work supporting Hays County’s immunization programs. The coordinator is responsible for the Texas Vaccine for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) program management, clinical immunization duties, training, data quality, and quality assurance activities. The position ensures compliance with state and federal immunization requirements while providing direct vaccination services, overseeing provider networks, conducting outreach, and performing program monitoring essential to maintaining high immunization coverage rates within Hays County.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • 3 years of experience working in immunization programs, vaccine management, clinical vaccination, IIS systems, or provider training.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Basic Life Support and Anaphylaxis Training is required or must be completed within 30 days of hiring.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, or a closely related field.
  • Spanish-language ability.
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certification or licensed LVN/RN.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inventory and ensure cold-chain continuity amongst the Hays County Health Department’s Immunization Programs and enrolled providers.
  • Maintain provider contact databases and ensure adherence to immunization laws and data confidentiality.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management initiatives for IIS workflows and TVFC operations.
  • Providing direct vaccination services.
  • Overseeing provider networks.
  • Conducting outreach.
  • Performing program monitoring essential to maintaining high immunization coverage rates within Hays County.
