About The Position

The vaccination nurse is responsible for administering vaccines safely and efficiently to individuals across different age groups. The role includes educating patients about vaccines, monitoring for adverse reactions, and maintaining accurate medical records. The nurse collaborates with healthcare teams to support public health campaigns, seasonal immunizations (e.g., flu, COVID-19), or travel vaccinations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
Active nursing license (RN) valid in the jurisdiction of practice.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in vaccination or public health nursing is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Administer vaccinations (intramuscular, subcutaneous, or intradermal) following protocols.
Ensure proper storage, handling, and preparation of vaccines according to guidelines.
Maintain sterility and prevent cross-contamination during administration.
Inform patients about vaccine benefits, side effects, and aftercare.
Answer questions regarding immunization schedules, contraindications, and booster doses.
Provide emotional support to patients, especially children and those with needle anxiety.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions post-vaccination (e.g., anaphylaxis).
Administer first aid or emergency care if needed and escalate serious cases.
Record and report any vaccine-related incidents to appropriate health authorities.
Maintain accurate patient records, including vaccine lot numbers and expiration dates.
Ensure timely data entry into Electronic Health Records (EHR) or immunization registries.
Prepare reports for supervisors or public health agencies.
Work with healthcare teams during immunization drives or vaccination events.
Coordinate with pharmacies, schools, and community centers for on-site clinics.
Participate in public health campaigns to promote vaccination awareness.
Follow local, state, and national health regulations and protocols.
Comply with infection control guidelines, including PPE usage.
Maintain knowledge of evolving immunization guidelines and vaccine protocols.
