UX/UI Web Developer

About The Position

The UX/UI Developer assists the Web Services team in the development and continuous improvement of the public-facing www.suu.edu website, with a focus on creating intuitive, accessible, and visually cohesive user experiences. This role bridges the gap between design and development by applying user-experience principles to day-to-day web development, front-end programming, and site maintenance.

Requirements

  • Two years recent web development/programming experience.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Strong understanding of Section 508/ADA Accessibility compliance and remediation.
  • Requires ability to use and adapt to a wide range of development tools/languages.
  • Requires ability to work cordially with other University personnel.
  • Ability to meet deadlines as well as negotiating with others to define timelines and service level agreements.
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects and effectively prioritize projects.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new technology developments and how SUU might benefit from their implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred bachelor's degree in Computer Science, user experience, or related field. (imminent completion of degree considered.)
  • Experience looking at web analytics reports and interpreting findings to improve user interfaces.
  • Experience with common web development tools, including: content management systems, analytics platforms, versioning software.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Cascade CMS and Siteimprove Web Governance Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of the www.suu.edu website
  • Conducts light user research and monitors behavior tracking to improve the website navigation.
  • Helps as a bridge between campus designers and web developers to translate designs into accessible and usable web components.
  • Collaboration with Web Services team and university departments to build.
  • Personal development and skill building.
  • Review the main SUU website for accuracy of content.
  • Look for areas of potential user struggle and make recommendations to improve.
  • Other duties as assigned.
