The UX/UI Analyst / Developer role at GLS US is a hands-on, customer-focused position responsible for designing, building, and enhancing digital customer experience platforms. This role bridges research, design, and front-end engineering to create intuitive digital products for shippers, recipients, and internal users, translating business needs and user insights into high-quality solutions. Reporting to the VP of IT Services and guided by the Product Manager, this individual will collaborate across the organization and provide technical direction to offshore development teams for major projects, aligning with the enterprise technology strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3–6 years of combined UX/UI design and front-end development experience in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with design tools (Figma, or equivalent) and front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript).
  • Experience with at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, or Vue.js).
  • Proven ability to manage or coordinate with remote or offshore development teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business needs into clear design and technical requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week or more if required.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 20 lbs. unassisted.
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or driving throughout the workday.
  • Willing to travel to various job sites and other locations.
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle.
  • Requires exercising discretion in the decision-making process and maintaining strict confidentiality of programs or client information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in logistics, shipping, e-commerce, or supply chain technology environments.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API integration and consuming backend data services.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design principles.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks.
  • Exposure to A/B testing, analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar), or data-driven design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end user experience for GLS US customer-facing digital platforms, including shipper portals, tracking experiences, and self-service tools.
  • Define and maintain design standards, component libraries, and UX patterns for consistency and accessibility.
  • Monitor platform performance and user feedback, translating data into improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to understand user needs and requirements.
  • Conduct user research, including interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis.
  • Produce wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity mockups using industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Apply accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.1 AA) and responsive design principles.
  • Facilitate design reviews and stakeholder walkthroughs, incorporating feedback iteratively.
  • Develop and maintain front-end components and features using HTML5, CSS3/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and frameworks like Vue.js, React, or Angular.
  • Implement designs with pixel-level accuracy and ensure cross-browser/cross-device compatibility.
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
  • Integrate front-end work with back-end APIs and services.
  • Serve as the onshore technical lead and primary point of coordination for offshore development resources.
  • Define work packages, acceptance criteria, and quality standards for offshore teams; review and approve deliverables.
  • Manage offshore sprint planning, stand-ups, and backlog grooming.
  • Identify and escalate risks or quality issues related to offshore delivery.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to define and refine the product roadmap for customer experience platforms.
  • Translate roadmap items into detailed technical requirements, effort estimates, and delivery milestones.
  • Provide regular status reporting to the VP of IT Services.
  • Ensure all platform changes adhere to GLS security, compliance, and change management standards.
