About The Position

829 Studios is building a bench of experienced UX strategists for project-based work, ranging from focused discovery sprints to large, multi-phase website strategy and redesign engagements. This is an opportunity to partner with our team on a recurring, project-based basis, bringing in the right expertise at the right time across a range of client needs, including complex builds for established and growth-stage brands. This role is ideal for independent UX consultants and career freelancers who are comfortable owning workstreams, interfacing directly with clients, and can quickly get up to speed, integrate into a team, and deliver value without heavy oversight.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years in UX strategy, ideally in an agency environment
• Strong portfolio demonstrating research → strategy → IA/wireframes
• Proven ability to lead client conversations and influence decisions
• Comfortable collaborating with designers, developers, and marketing teams
• Familiarity with CMS-driven websites (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Shopify)

Responsibilities

• Lead or support stakeholder interviews and workshops
• Conduct research (competitive, analytics, and user insights)
• Translate findings into clear strategic direction
• Develop information architecture, sitemaps, and content frameworks
• Create lo-fi wireframes in Figma to express thinking
• Present work to clients and guide them through recommendations
