About The Position

The Global UX team at Target is comprised of design, content, research, and accessibility professionals dedicated to enhancing digital experiences for Target's guests, team members, and partners. This role is crucial for improving Target's digital experience by bringing ease, simplicity, value, and delight to every interaction. As a Product Designer within the Stores UX Team, you will be instrumental in shaping Target's evolving digital experience for guests and contributing to business growth. You will design intuitive experiences to support Target guests and/or store team members and leaders in their daily tasks. Collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers, you will utilize human-centered design practices to address operational challenges and create solutions that boost team member effectiveness. The team fosters a collaborative design culture through craftsmanship, curiosity, and a commitment to learning, encouraging open sharing of work, participation in critiques, and strengthening partnerships across product and engineering. This is an engaged, supportive, and diverse team focused on maximizing the impact of the UX discipline.

Requirements

  • Relevant product design experience through professional work, internships, or equivalent experience.
  • Foundational skills in UX and product design, as well as structuring and planning work, and owning the design process.
  • Understanding of native mobile and/or web design patterns and platform conventions (Android experience is a plus).
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, and how they can improve the experiences of team members and guests.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills.
  • Curiosity and a desire to understand the motivations, behaviors, and needs of users.
  • Knowledge of effectively using data and insights to inform design decisions and communicate your approach.
  • Proficiency in product design and prototyping tools (i.e., Figma).
  • Value outcomes and strive toward design that is welcoming, inspiring, and clear.
  • Understand how design connects to, serves, and improves business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate openness to feedback, continuous learning, and iterative improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Android experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate throughout the end-to-end design process, from discovery and problem framing through ideation, prototyping, validation, design refinement, and implementation with engineering.
  • Partner closely with and learn from senior designers through collaboration, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional working teams to deliver impactful business outcomes.
  • Leverage insights, data and research to identify and pursue user-centric outcomes within your product space.
  • Create design deliverables representative of the design process phase – such as journey maps, wireframes, user flows, UI design and prototypes.
  • Contribute to qualitative and quantitative research efforts to better understand team member needs and evaluate design solutions.
  • Create accessible, intuitive, and thoughtful experiences through strong interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and prototyping.
  • Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams.
  • Learn to navigate ambiguity by asking thoughtful questions, seeking feedback, and adapting designs as new information emerges.
  • Iterate on designs based on research findings, usability testing, stakeholder feedback, and product constraints.
  • Communicate design rationale clearly through presentations, documentation, and collaborative discussions.
