The UX Principal leads strategic user experience activities for a customer or associate segment or suite of products, focusing on the largest problems in a specific space. The role works with strategists, designers, researchers, product and development teams, and business stakeholders to craft end-to-end experiences and guide strategic direction. It may lead in different capacities, such as strategist, service designer, information architect, creative director, or lead for a major project team. The UX Principal operates autonomously, proactively identifies insights and opportunities, and drives consistency and standards. The position typically supports two to three teams within a customer or associate experience segment. It advocates for customers and users, uses research insights to improve usability and inform design, and communicates a point of view that guides decisions and helps align solutions across products and experiences. The position typically reports to a User Experience Sr. Principal, User Experience Sr. Manager, or User Experience Director, and has no direct reports. Overnight travel is typically required less than 10% of the time. The work is primarily in a comfortable indoor area, with most time spent sitting and frequent opportunities to move about; on rare occasions, light lifting or moving may be needed. Unpleasant working conditions are infrequent and not objectionable.
