Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in utilization review or case management within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, insurance processes, and medical necessity criteria.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or other relevant clinical license.
  • Experience in behavioral health settings.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct utilization reviews to ensure appropriate patient care and resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate timely and effective patient care.
  • Document all utilization review activities accurately and thoroughly in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with insurance companies and other payers to obtain authorizations and resolve reimbursement issues.
  • Identify potential barriers to care and work with the interdisciplinary team to develop solutions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to utilization review and case management.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in utilization review.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
