Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in utilization review or case management within a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, insurance processes, and medical necessity criteria.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software.
Nice To Haves
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or other relevant clinical license.
- Experience in behavioral health settings.
Responsibilities
- Conduct utilization reviews to ensure appropriate patient care and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate timely and effective patient care.
- Document all utilization review activities accurately and thoroughly in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Communicate with insurance companies and other payers to obtain authorizations and resolve reimbursement issues.
- Identify potential barriers to care and work with the interdisciplinary team to develop solutions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to utilization review and case management.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in utilization review.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
