About The Position

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, Operator III, or Operator I, the Utility supports efficient production operations by maintaining material flow, monitoring consumables, and assisting with machine operation and setup. This position plays a key role in ensuring production runs safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The Utility is responsible for loading materials, supporting press operations, maintaining ink and glue systems, preparing supplies for upcoming jobs, and assisting operators with equipment setup and changeovers. This role requires a strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Utility assists in the operation of multiple types of production equipment while following all Standard Operating Procedures. This position supports production efficiency by maintaining consumables, preparing materials for upcoming jobs, monitoring equipment performance, and assisting operators as needed. The Utility is expected to maintain quality standards, support productivity goals, and actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training opportunities.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Manufacturing, production, print, or converting experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation required.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling and production support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Load and operate roll stands and auto splicers in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Maintain continuous operation of label applicators throughout production runs.
  • Log all rolls and production materials accurately and return unused inventory according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain proper ink viscosity and pH levels as required.
  • Maintain glue levels and monitor glue thickness to support quality production standards.
  • Assist operators with machine setup, changeovers, printer setup, gluers, and other production-related activities.
  • Assist with wash-ups and routine cleaning procedures as directed.
  • Ensure production lines remain clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
  • Accurately track press counts and production information as required.
  • Prepare materials and supplies for upcoming jobs, including paper, ink, plates, glue, labels, and job documentation.
  • Support production goals by ensuring materials are available before equipment downtime or job changeovers occur.
  • Participate in the Pregis apprenticeship program and ongoing training opportunities.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and keep work areas free from debris, spills, and safety hazards.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
