Responsible for maintenance and servicing of Amtrak's locomotives and facilities in accordance with FRA, FDA, and Amtrak standards and guidelines. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Applicant must be able to perform the job duties and maintain current certifications for the job he/she is bidding
  • Work within the guidelines of the System Safety Program
  • Keep a clean and safe work area. Return company tools and materials
  • Work in and promote a teamwork environment in order to achieve a quality product
  • Adhere to Amtrak's Standard of Excellence Policy
  • Positions designated as "Hours of Service" require the applicant to produce a negative Federal pre-employment drug test prior to performing the job.
  • These jobs are subject to Federal random and reasonable suspicion testing.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Performs services on locomotives and equipment such as sanding, cleaning, washing and scraping, empties waste retention systems, trash receptacles and properly disposes of hazardous waste material in accordance with FDA/Amtrak standards and guidelines, performs shop maintenance and functions as motor equipment operator (see MEO positions)
  • Uses and operates light cranes, tractors, forklifts, and similar equipment
  • Maintain shop/yard cleanliness, maintains proper care and use of materials, equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job
  • Other duties as assigned.
