Under close supervision, this entry-level position supports the Biosolids / Grounds Maintenance department of Toho Water Authority's water resources systems. The role involves performing semi-skilled manual labor, operating some heavy equipment, repairing irrigation lines, and operating zero-turn mowers. The job requires the ability to operate a vehicle, load landscape trailers safely, and use various hands-on power tools. Tasks include heavy physical effort, such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects of moderate to very heavy weight (up to 50 pounds regularly, and over 100 pounds occasionally). Skills range from basic irrigation repair to operating chainsaws, pole saws, drills, and other power tools. Responsibilities also include mowing grass with different types of mowers and small tractors, running errands, and assisting the team mechanic with identifying and purchasing parts and tools. The position requires adaptability to public needs, performing tasks like garbage removal and tree trimming at a moment's notice.
