Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Two years of experience related to construction, maintenance, or repair
Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods
Ability to work safely around mechanical, electrical, chemical, confined-space, and other field-related hazards
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment

Responsibilities

Construct, operate, maintain, and repair the City's water distribution and wastewater collection and treatment systems.
Inspect and maintain wells, reservoirs, pumping stations, meters, hydrants, chlorination equipment, and other utility infrastructure.
Assist with repairing water mains, installing service connections and valves, flushing hydrants, operating wastewater pump stations, and maintaining treatment plant equipment.
Perform pavement cutting, ditch digging, pipe installation and repair, backfilling, grounds maintenance, meter reading, and operating construction equipment such as dump trucks, skid steers, compactors, pumps, compressors, and backhoes.
Participate in a rotational on-call schedule for utility emergencies outside regular working hours.
