About The Position

The Business Unit Manager for the Utility Systems Business (USB) is responsible for leading the Engineering, Customer Service, and Field Service functions within Environment One. This role ensures seamless coordination across engineering design, technical support, service operations, and customer-facing activities. This role will partner closely with Sales, Supply Chain, and Production to meet customer specifications, achieve on‑time delivery, maintain equipment reliability, and drive continuous improvement in product performance, processes, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in engineering, manufacturing, or technical service.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering workflows.
  • Experience with ERP systems and proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and cross‑functional leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified in Project Management (CAPM or PMP).
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Masters Degree in Engineering Management.
  • Familiar with third party certifications, including UL, CSA, and ATEX.
  • Custom job shop experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher).
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and safety‑focused culture; enforce PPE and safety policies.
  • Direct and develop Technical Team, Customer Service Representatives, and Field Service Technicians.
  • Own engineering throughput, service responsiveness, and field performance metrics.
  • Forecast quarterly and annual engineering and service capacity needs.
  • Ensure timely, accurate reporting of KPIs including Engineering productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with Sales and Supply Chain to confirm technical requirements, order specifications, and delivery commitments.
  • Oversee resolution of customer issues, field escalations, and technical inquiries.
  • Ensure engineering changes, service updates, and product improvements are communicated clearly and proactively.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product reliability, manufacturability, and lifecycle cost.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for engineering and field issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma and lean methodologies.
  • Own departmental budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, SOX, Export Control, and internal quality systems.
