About The Position

The Utility Porter performs cleaning and linen-delivery duties in guest rooms, hallways, and other hotel areas. The role includes specialized carpet, upholstery, glass, marble, and elevated-area cleaning; responding to guest requests to rearrange furniture; and reporting damaged furnishings and finishes for repair. The position also requires cleaning biohazard areas and meeting daily carpet-cleaning targets.

Requirements

At least six months of general-cleaning experience preferred.
At least six months of experience maintaining various floor surfaces with related cleaning, buffing, and extraction equipment preferred.
Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals and equipment preferred.
Familiarity with an upholstery-cleaning machine, wet vacuum, and vacuums.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
GED or high school diploma preferred.

Responsibilities

Clean carpet, upholstery, glass table tops, and windows.
Polish marble and dust high or elevated areas.
Pull beds away from walls to dust behind headboards.
Deliver sheets, pillowcases, and terry cloth items to floors.
Rearrange guest-room furniture at guests’ requests.
Use bonnet, extraction, and furniture-cleaning machines (CFR) to remove stains from chairs and couches.
Clean biohazard areas.
Perform general cleaning of guest rooms and hallways.
Stock new linen in Guest Room Attendant locker rooms.
Report torn carpet, damaged wall finishes, and damaged furniture for repair.
Remove marks, dirt, and dust from baseboards.
Bonnet 25 rooms and shampoo 15 rooms per day.
Perform other duties as necessary for the success of the department.
