About The Position

As a Utility Porter, your role will encompass a variety of essential tasks to maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the kitchen environment. This includes the thorough cleaning of all cooking equipment, such as stoves, grills, ovens, broilers, steamer ovens, kettle-braisers, hood panels, deep fryers, and dishwasher machines. You will also be responsible for cleaning and polishing stainless steel counters and drains to ensure they are ready for use. A key part of the role involves washing, cleaning, and polishing equipment. Additionally, you will sort and clean dishes, silverware, glasses, utensils, and assorted items, as well as wash pots and pans. Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards is crucial. The position also requires performing bio-hazard cleanup and any other duties assigned by Department Management. Candidates are expected to be prompt, present, and prepared for all scheduled shifts, adhering to all company/departmental standards. This role involves performing all duties associated with Porter and Kitchen Worker positions.

Requirements

• Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral form.
• Requires the ability to work consistently with industrial strength chemicals.
• Requires the ability to work within a team environment.
• Must have the ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced and stressful environment with prolonged walking/standing.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time, push/pull up to 400 lbs. at a time.
• Must be able to handle heavy machinery such as pallet jacks, tuggers, fork lifts, etc.
• Candidate is required to use Personal Protection Equipment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in kitchen stewarding or in another physically demanding profession preferred, but not required.
• Previous experience as a stove cleaner in a high volume establishment preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning all cooking devices such as stoves, grills, ovens, broilers, burner tops, steamer ovens, kettle-braisers, hood panels, deep fryers, dishwasher machines, stainless steel counters, drains, etc.
• Washing, cleaning, and polishing equipment to ensure it is ready for use.
• Sorting and cleaning dishes, silverware, glasses, utensils, and assorted items.
• Washing pots and pans.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment in accordance with the Health Department standards.
• Performing bio-hazard cleanup.
• Performing all duties associated with Porter and Kitchen Worker positions.
