About The Position

The Town of Leesburg is seeking a skilled individual to join their Utilities Plant Maintenance Division. This position involves basic to advanced, skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and structural equipment relative to the operation of the Town’s Water Filtration Facility and Water Pollution Control Facility and all associated facilities within the Town’s Department of Utilities. The role requires adaptability to various environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat, noise, vibration, and hazardous conditions such as confined spaces and high voltage environments, in all types of weather. Requirements

  • HS/GED
  • Minimum of (1) one year of experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, facility maintenance and/or repair work (for Trainee level).
  • Minimum (2) two to (3) three years of experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, facility maintenance and/or repair work (for Technician level).
  • Minimum 5 (five) years of responsible experience in mechanical, facility maintenance, electrical, HVAC and plumbing repair work or combination (for Senior level).
  • Five (5) years of experience as an industrial electrician (for Senior level).
  • Experience reading line drawings and electrical diagrams (for Senior level).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other workplace safety programs (for Trainee level).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
  • Confined Space Certification, Fork Lift Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) plus years of specific Utility plant system maintenance, electrical, mechanical or HVAC experience (for Trainee level).
  • Bilingual (for Trainee level).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B (for Trainee level).
  • Four (4) years of experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant, industrial electrical, industrial mechanical or industrial HVAC experience (for Technician level).
  • Experience with construction plans, reading line drawings and/or electrical diagrams (for Technician level).
  • Completion of an electrical, mechanical or other associated trade school (for Technician level).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish (for Technician level).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B (for Technician level).
  • Associates Degree or completion of college courses (for Senior level).
  • Seven (7) years’ experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant (for Senior level).
  • Supervisory experience in a similar environment (for Senior level).
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and tracking (for Senior level).
  • Knowledge of pumps and motors (for Senior level).
  • Completion of an electrical, mechanical, or other associated trade school (for Senior level).
  • Advanced Computer skills (for Senior level).
  • Bilingual (for Senior level).
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B (for Senior level).

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic to advanced skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, and structural equipment.
  • Maintain and repair equipment at the Town’s Water Filtration Facility and Water Pollution Control Facility.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat, noise, and vibration.
  • Work in hazardous conditions such as confined spaces and high voltage environments.
  • Operate in all types of weather conditions.
  • Impart knowledge to others.
