Requirements

• One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment
• Meet the PA residency requirement
• Able to perform essential job functions
• Satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance (conditional offer of employment)
• Medical examination (conditional offer of employment)

Responsibilities

• Run boilers and auxiliary equipment to maintain steam levels for hospital heating and hot water
• Assist plant staff and monitor operations during assigned shifts
• Check plant systems, take readings, and document gauge information in shift logs
• Test and chemically treat boiler water to protect equipment and maintain performance
• Complete preventive tasks and assist with equipment repairs when needed
• Follow required safety rules and ensure safe operation of all power house systems
