What You’ll Be Doing This position will perform a variety of complex technical work. This position is responsible for the following: Performs skilled maintenance, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment used in water and wastewater treatment facilities within the Town’s Department of Utilities. Service and repair pumps, electric motors, gearboxes, valves, conveyors and other industrial machinery to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. Operate crane truck, maintenance equipment, hoists, forklifts, and other tools safely. Perform welding, fabrication, pipe fitting, and general maintenance as needed. Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Requirements

HS/GED
Minimum (2) two to (3) three years of experience in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, facility maintenance and/or repair work (for Utility Plant Technician).
Minimum 5 (five) years of responsible experience in mechanical, facility maintenance, electrical, HVAC and plumbing repair work or combination (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Five (5) years of experience as an industrial electrician, experience reading line drawings and electrical diagrams (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Possession of a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Knowledge in MS Suite applications and computer program applications appropriate to the position.
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.
Ability to obtain OSHA10 (for Utility Plant Technician) and OSHA 30 (for Senior Utility Plant Technician) within 1 year of employment.
Confined Space Certification, Fork Lift Certification (for Utility Plant Technician) and First Aid/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.

Nice To Haves

Four (4) years of experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant, industrial electrical, industrial mechanical or industrial HVAC experience (for Utility Plant Technician).
Experience with construction plans, reading line drawings and/or electrical diagrams (for Utility Plant Technician).
Completion of an electrical, mechanical or other associated trade school (for Utility Plant Technician).
Bilingual in English/Spanish (for Utility Plant Technician).
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B (for Utility Plant Technician).
Associates Degree or completion of college courses (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Seven (7) years’ experience maintaining a water treatment or wastewater treatment plant (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Supervisory experience in a similar environment (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Knowledge of equipment maintenance procedures and tracking (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Knowledge of pumps and motors (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Completion of an electrical, mechanical, or other associated trade school (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Advanced Computer skills (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Bilingual (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B (for Senior Utility Plant Technician).
