About The Position

Provide support to the facility in various positions. This role involves performing various jobs within the warehouse or on the grounds as assigned, including pallet sorting, restacking, identifying and reworking product that does not meet customer specifications, and sanitation. The position requires active participation as a member of the team, fostering cohesiveness, and supporting team objectives. Team members are expected to be familiar with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand their role in supporting these systems, communicating concerns and improvement ideas. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives, and the description is intended to guide activities without limiting creativity. The work environment can be busy, noisy, and dusty with temperature extremes, requiring individuals to be on their feet for the entire shift and lift up to 75 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes are required.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in a busy, noisy, dusty environment with temperature extremes, work on feet for entire shift and be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, any as needed or required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift certification
• Basic math skills, reading, writing, computer knowledge and will need to have good communication skills in English.

Nice To Haves

• Previous forklift experience preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates as a member of the Team.
• Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
• Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
• Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
