About The Position

This position is responsible for filling in for breaks, absenteeism/vacation and must be able to perform all jobs and operate all machines in the department, while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only. Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their Manager or local HR Partner.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, or simple multiplication mentally, on paper or with calculator.
  • Must be able to operate machines using a touch screen to interpret information in sequential order, input data, and reset calculations. Ability to be trained to or use a computer display controls, handheld computers and scanners.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions – such as work orders, computer displays, safety materials, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals, and brief correspondence.
  • Have no more than 5 attendance points on the date the employee bids for the position
  • No Written Warning with Suspension in the last 6 months

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operating machinery, understanding specs of product being ran, documenting both on paper and electronically machine setting, weights, and other data as needed.
  • Assists with successful startup of machinery; ensures machine sensors and line conveyors are clean and clear of jams.
  • Facilitates and monitors standard loading operations, shutdown, and cleanup to ensure proper processing and packaging of products within Tyson specifications.
  • Manually loads 40 lbs. boxes of finished product from conveyance to pallets when automated palletizer is inactive.
  • Facilitate pallet completion and changeover to new pallets.
  • Monitor the loading of loads boxes onto infeed conveyer; Monitors that the case sealer is properly sealing boxes.
  • Observes and monitors the stacking operation of the automated palletizer and various packaging machines to detect work-in-progress misalignments or malfunctions; notifies Line Lead, Machine Operator or Supervisor as necessary to correct uncommon pack-out line or automated palletizer problems.
  • Ensures area is stocked with needed supplies, proper sized pallets; replenishes as necessary; ensures battery powered jack is charged and driver is available, as necessary.
  • Assembling and dismantling equipment when needed and communicate issues to Lead and Supervisor.
  • May operate forklift or manual /battery powered pallet jack to sort and transfer pallets and supplies.
  • May operate case packer and pallet wrapper.
  • Keep a legible accurate record as required including entering data as needed into a computer-based system.
  • Wears all required personal protective equipment including, gowns, hearing protection, eye protection, hardhats, as required.
  • Perform any other work assigned by supervisor.
