About The Position

Responsible for monitoring, operating and troubleshooting equipment while working efficiently and following all procedures for producing quality products according to customer specifications, as well as following safety, GMP and quality procedures. The machine operator is also required to do complete washouts of the machinery at the end of a production run.

Requirements

  • Cross-trained operator capable of running all production floor equipment.
  • Able to operate various manufacturing equipment in a mass/high volume production environment.
  • Ability to manipulate small parts and gauges.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning skills to solve a problem.
  • Understand written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Produce quality products according to customer specifications.
  • Follow safety, GMP, and quality procedures.
  • Perform complete washouts of machinery at the end of a production run.
  • Operate all production floor equipment to support coverage needs and maintain workflow continuity.
  • Set up machine at the beginning of the shift to ensure proper working order.
  • Perform safety checks throughout the shift.
  • Understand written and verbal instructions to complete packaging of products.
  • Adjust machine components according to finished product specifications.
  • Load packaging material into machine throughout shift.
  • Stop and adjust machine in cases of malfunctions or jams.
  • Troubleshoot problems during operation.
  • Inspect and remove defective items or those that do not meet quality standards.
  • Move supplies and discard, fill in for other teammates as necessary, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist Area Supervisor in managing production line crew, ensuring goals are met, helping set new goals, and improving morale.
  • Participate in investigations of safety/environmental incidents, production, and quality problems.
  • Report all accidents to the Area Supervisor and assist in completing necessary accident reports.
  • Perform CIP/COP according to the cleaning plan and hygiene regulations.
  • Assist Quality with conducting quality control examinations of product.
  • Report any problems impacting quality, productivity, or yield to the Area Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
  • Complete required written and electronic reports.
  • Assist with timekeeping management of line/department employees.
  • Clean machine and perform preventative maintenance.
  • Test and evaluate products to verify correct weights, seals, film orientation, codes, labels, etc.
  • Communicate performance information to other shifts.
  • Clear lines at the end of shift.
  • Take all required training, including washout training for sanitary washouts.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Comply with all company safety and environmental policies and procedures, as well as OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory rules and regulations.
  • Recognize unsafe acts and conditions in the facility and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Fully complete appropriate paperwork related to specific job functions, in addition to quality and safety/training.
  • Recognize and report all incidents, even those that do not warrant treatment.
  • Review and execute the Food Safety Plan and MFP Mission Statement.
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMPs), including proper waste disposal, attire, grooming, and hygiene.
