About The Position

The Utility Operator role at the Richmond Hill location provides support to the production team, by performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot assigned machines. This role will be required to perform various functions including, but not limited to: Follows all safety policies (such as LOTO, Safe Knife Handling, Safe Lifting Technics Safe Chemical Handling, Emergency Response Procedure, Fire Drills) and participate in safety training programs to promote a safety-first culture. Following all quality, GMP, and PPE policies & procedures (safe material handling, lot traceability, etc.) Setting up and keeping line equipment running Maintaining clean, sanitized work area Running alternate equipment as needed to support the production line. Keeping supervisor and maintenance informed of issues that require corrective action or repair Checking pallets coming to the production floor & codes associated with each against the process order Inspecting material, products, and specification sheets at each step of the process, ensuring the quality and integrity of the product meets specifications. Recording and reviewing production records and specifications Completing all necessary paperwork Performing other duties as assigned by a production supervisor or production lead Training and developing personnel as needed. Participating in a team environment by interacting with other employees and involvement on improvement projects Support team members ensuring tasks are being carried out efficiently and in accordance to production schedules Collaboration with all teams to ensure coordinated and efficient plant operations Report production progress, challenges and achievements to the production supervisor and other relevant stakeholders Collaborate with the team to implement changes that enhance productivity and reduce waste

Requirements

  • Competency in English language (read, write, speak); excellent written, oral, and listening skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with groups of employees.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other warehouse management systems.
  • Detailed SAP experience using all related transaction and analytics.
  • Can add, subtract, divide and have ability to calculate figures and amounts such as weights and cubic measurements.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret and prioritize a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and talk or listen.
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and use hands to handle or feel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Applicant must demonstrate reliability as they will be supporting the entire department.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment – preferably in the food industry
  • Demonstrated drive to continuously improve operations
  • Ability to accomplish established goals through the efforts of others by motivating, fostering teamwork, resolving conflict, coaching, safety management, production planning and manufacturing control planning
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work without direct supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, including decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to apply simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams, computer scanning devices, adjustable measuring instruments
