About The Position

This position will provide relief for the co-product fryer and the mainline fryer. The role involves monitoring equipment, adjusting settings, assisting with product changes, preparing process control data sheets, loading and unloading oil trucks, checking oil quality and levels, pumping oil, checking product quality, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and performing Sunday clean-ups. The operator will also be responsible for training other utility/relief operators and must be knowledgeable of specific ingredient locations. A strong emphasis is placed on following all plant safety policies and procedures, actively participating in safety programs, performing risk assessments, and demonstrating ownership and leadership in personal and team safety. Reporting near misses, incidents, and safety concerns is mandatory.

Requirements

  • Have a working knowledge of the equipment used for the co-product fryer and mainline fryer.
  • Able to have good work performance.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
  • Read, understand, and obey all plant rules and practice safety as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Be conscientious and consistent in his/her work.
  • Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
  • Be knowledgeable of the potential hazards and safety procedures associated with the task being performed.
  • Actively practice and abide by all Company work, safety, and personal hygiene rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
  • Possess a working knowledge of how the equipment works.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Must be able to balance teamwork and individual responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure.
  • Sanitation qualified.
  • Must be forklift qualified. If not, must meet requirements to become forklift certified.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.

  • Must know the location of SAPP, Dextrose, DM, and salt.

Responsibilities

  • Provide relief for the co-product fryer and the mainline fryer.
  • Monitor all waste totes in processing.
  • Monitor the former, including checking revolutions per minute and adjusting the wizard gauge and auger as needed.
  • Assist with cut changes on the mainline and co-product line.
  • Monitor the fryer, setting and adjusting time and temperature to maintain specified levels.
  • Prepare and maintain co-product and mainline process control data sheets.
  • Load and unload oil trucks and move oil from tank to tank.
  • Check oil quality and levels in the co-product fryer and the mainline fryer.
  • Pump oil in and out of the fryers.
  • Check for product quality at inspection tables.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment.
  • Perform Sunday clean-up mainline boil-outs.
  • Train other utility/relief operators.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively engage in safety, participate in safety programs, engage in safety activities, perform risk assessments, and demonstrate ownership and leadership in personal safety and the safety of other team members.
  • Report all near misses, incidents, and any safety concerns.
