Perform shop maintenance, repair and fabrication of tools and equipment in support of energy delivery activities; diagnose and correct the causes of trouble that develop in such equipment. This role involves diagnosing failures or malfunctions of tools and equipment, making reports, and recommending and performing corrective actions. The Utility Mechanic will also fabricate, assemble, maintain, and repair tools and equipment, perform dielectric tests on hot sticks, and fabricate and test grounds. Additionally, the role includes researching tool needs, ordering tools, operating infrared cameras and other specialized equipment, performing field work, and handling waste disposal in accordance with environmental regulations. The position requires the use of various hand, pneumatic, and power tools, operating automotive equipment, and adhering to company safety rules and regulations. Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas, as well as submitting required records and reports, are also key aspects of the job. The Utility Mechanic will attend and participate in training and safety meetings, assist in training other employees, direct the work of assigned employees, and report irregularities.
