Hyperscale data center construction often takes place on complex sites containing existing gas, electric, communications, water, sewer, and other utility infrastructure. Successful project execution requires proactive planning, utility coordination, permit management, and risk mitigation to ensure construction activities proceed safely and without disruption. As a Utility Manager, you will serve as the primary coordinator for utility-related activities across major mission-critical construction projects. You will work closely with utility owners, project teams, contractors, engineers, field operations, and regulatory agencies to identify conflicts, coordinate access, manage utility risks, and support construction activities throughout the project lifecycle. About Michels Infrastructure Solutions Michels Infrastructure Solutions (MIS) brings together the full capabilities of the Michels Family of Companies under a Super General Contractor (Super GC) model, providing mission-critical owners and developers with a single point of accountability for every phase of project execution. MIS specializes in the delivery of hyperscale data centers and mission-critical facilities, leveraging expertise across mass grading and site development, wet and dry utilities, fiber and telecommunications infrastructure, ground improvement, deep foundations, structural concrete, power infrastructure, and commissioning. Our integrated delivery approach enables customers to partner with a single-source team capable of executing some of North America's most complex and demanding infrastructure projects. Position Overview As a Utility Manager, you will lead utility coordination efforts supporting large-scale hyperscale data center and mission-critical infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for identifying utility conflicts, coordinating with utility owners, managing permit requirements, supporting utility relocations and protection measures, maintaining locate compliance, and helping ensure construction activities are executed safely around existing infrastructure. This role serves as a critical connection between engineering, construction, utility companies, permitting agencies, subcontractors, survey teams, and project leadership. Success requires strong communication skills, utility coordination experience, attention to detail, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact project execution.
